A private detective explained which emojis betray infidelity

A private detective has revealed how to spot cheating using common emoticons. In today's digital world, infidelity can be disguised not only through traditional means of communication, but also through seemingly innocent emojis. Paul Jones, a private detective from ARF Private Investigators, shared his observations on how symbols in messengers can give away a traitor.

Instead of leaving a trail of photos, calls or suspicious messages, some people are using emojis as a code for secret communication. This became especially noticeable against the backdrop of the recent scandal, when former technology company executive Andy Byron and HR manager Christine Cabot were caught kissing at a Coldplay concert. But, according to Paul Jones, not all stories are revealed so clearly. It often starts with small symbols in chats.

The detective explains that certain emojis have hidden meanings. For example, a croissant can mean an invitation to breakfast, a letter is a request to write when it's convenient, and a plate of spaghetti is a hint at dinner or a date. A chili symbol indicates flirting or intimate subtext, a monkey with closed eyes can mean guilt or a desire to hide something, and a lock is a sign of private correspondence.

According to Jones, this practice is on the rise. Over the past year, there has been an increase in the number of cases where emojis are used as covert language. This is especially noticeable when the same symbols are repeated in correspondence with one specific person. This can be a signal that is worth paying attention to.

To check which emojis are used most often, you can look at them on the keyboard while writing a message. If the treacherous symbols are among the most used, that's a cause for concern.

Paul Jones advises not to panic over a single use of such emojis, but if other signs appear — for example, a partner hides their phone, avoids talking, or new contacts with strange names appear — then there are reasons to ask questions. In such cases, intuition may be a better guide.
