American aid can change the course of the war in Ukraine

According to a report in The New York Times, the allocation of American aid could be a key factor in changing the course of the war in Ukraine after the Russian Federation army seized the initiative.

American funds will help Ukraine replenish the stockpile of two key munitions: artillery and anti-aircraft, such as Patriot missiles.

Another part of the aid will go to training, which will make it possible to quickly train new soldiers for the front line.

As soon as aid begins to arrive, Ukraine will most likely use it on the eastern front and be able to stop the advance of the Russian Federation.

And "if everything goes well", Ukraine may launch a new offensive in 2025. A possible direction is east and southeast in order to "drive a wedge" between Donbas and Crimea. That is, the same goal as during the counteroffensive in the summer of 2023.

Critics of the aid project, however, believe that it will not enable Ukraine to even stop Russia's advance. Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, says American production cannot currently keep pace with Russian weapons production. For Russia, the conflict is more important than for the West, and Moscow is devoting more resources to it, these critics argue.

"The most realistic scenario for Ukraine is probably not to return to the pre-war borders. The country will be smaller, but will be able to keep most of its territory, and then economically and strategically integrate with Europe. This is much better than a complete defeat,” the NYT sums up.
