The leader of the band "Boombox" and the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces Andriy Khlyvniuk refused the International Prize named after Sergiy Magnitsky, which celebrates achievements in the field of journalistic investigations and human rights protection. In 2024 he was elected one of the laureates for his contribution to the struggle for freedom of speech and fundamental human rights.
The artist stated that he could not accept the prize because of the position of some other laureates who, he said, "not sure of the need to provide Ukraine with Western weapons." In his official statement, Khlyvniuk stressed that this weapon is vital to protect Ukraine from Russian aggression.
The Magnitsky International Prize is a prestigious award that recognizes achievements in the fight for human rights and freedom of expression. Among this year's laureates is Yulia Navalna, the wife of Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, who received the award in the category "Courage under fire".
Andriy Khlyvnyuk is known as the frontman of the band "Boombox" and is actively serving in the Armed Forces. He is a participant in the Kherson Patrol Patrol Patrol Unit. His act emphasizes the importance of Ukrainians' position on international support.
Khlyvnyuk's refusal to attract attention to the key problem: hesitation of part of the international community in support of Ukraine. The artist once again emphasized that Western assistance is crucial to overcoming Russian aggression and the protection of Ukrainian children and families.
