Asteroid -sized skyscraper approaches the ground

On Saturday, May 24, an asteroid 387746 (2003 MH4), whose diameter is approximately 366 meters, will fly past the ground. This was reported by the laboratory of NASA reactive movement (JPL).

The asteroid is considered potentially dangerous because it meets two key criteria: it has a diameter of more than 150 meters, and will be less than 7.5 million kilometers from our planet.

This time, 387746 (2003 MH4) will fly at a distance of 6 676 580 km from Earth - this is about 17 times further than the average distance of up to a month.

Although collisions with the planet are not projected, scientists closely monitor the trajectory of such objects. According to NASA researchers, even a relatively small asteroid can cause significant damage in the event of falling on the Earth's surface, so such celestial bodies are constantly monitoring.

Asteroid 387746 was discovered in 2003 and is on the list of objects, which are observed as potentially dangerous. Such observations allow scientists to better predict future orbits and evaluate the possible risks to the planet.
