US Presidential Administration Joe Baiden has finally sent a long-awaited secret report to Congress concerning Washington's strategy on the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to the information received from Reuters, the report was received on Monday, September 10. The legislators have not yet been able to read the document, but its delivery was obtained from three anonymous sources.
This step was a response to the request of Congress, which was put forward as part of a bill on additional costs of $ 95 billion, in particular, $ 61 billion from this amount was allocated in support of Ukraine. The bill was adopted in April after a few months of delay and criticism.
First of all, Congress demanded that Biden administration submit a detailed strategy by early June. This strategy had to be given criticism from the Republicans who accused the administration of lack of support of Ukraine, in particular, restricting the use of US weapons to strikes in Russia. Washington expressed fears that such blows could lead to escalation of the conflict.
Senator Jim Rish, the Chief Republican in the Senate Foreign Committee, expressed his dissatisfaction with a delay in the report. He noted that the need for a strategy to help Ukraine is critical, and that the lack of timely response from Biden administration may indicate the lack of a clear strategy or the unwillingness of its disclosure.
The White House has not commented on the situation at this time, but the report to Congress may change the dynamics of Ukraine's support among US legislators and the public.
