On Sunday, April 13, Russian troops struck two ballistic missiles in the center of Sumy. At least 21 people were killed as a result of the attack, and five children were injured.
The attack happened at lunch on Petropavlovskaya Street, in the very center of Sumy, on the day of Palm Sunday. At that moment there were many people on the streets. The blow damaged residential buildings, educational institutions, cars and other civilian infrastructure. Emergency work is ongoing in the city, assistance is provided to all wounded. Police restricted access to the lesion area to ensure rescuers, as well as a headquarters to receive applications and assistance to the victims. The prosecutor's office qualifies the event as a military crime - Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Violation of the laws and customs of war"). The investigation is conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
