The Bank of Kazakhstan suspended transfers through the Russian payment system "Golden Crown"

The Kazakh Freedom Bank has announced the suspension of transfers through the Russian payment system "Golden Crown". This decision was made against the background of increased sanction pressure from the US on Russian financial structures, as reported by Forbes Kazakhstan with reference to the bank's press service.

Freedom Bank representatives noted that they are currently expecting additional information from partners to conduct an analysis that will help identify further steps in cooperation with the Golden Crown payment system. This decision is related to the exacerbation of the attention of the international community to financial institutions that cooperate with Russia in the face of continuing sanctions.

On August 23, the US Department of Finance imposed sanctions against three Russian financial companies - Atol, Diassoft and Financial Technology Center (CFT). The latter is closely linked to the Gold Crown payment system, although the system itself was not entered in the sanction registry. This has become a signal for many financial institutions that cooperate with Russian partners about the possible risks and the need to revise their relations with sanctions.

The National Bank of Kazakhstan stressed that he did not interfere with the Freedom Bank's decision to suspend transfers through the Golden Crown. This indicates that the decision was made on its own, given the risks that may arise in connection with cooperation with Russian financial structures that have been sanctioned.
