Belgium has confirmed its obligation to transfer the F-16 fighter to Ukraine as part of the military support required to counteract Russian aggression. This was stated by Prime Minister Belgium Bart de Vaver during a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiev on Tuesday, April 8.
According to the Belgian Prime Minister, this year Ukraine will receive two F-16 fighters, two more-in 2026. He stressed that there are no delays in Belgium supply schedules.
"This year we will put two F-16 for spare parts. Next year we will definitely put two fighters. We hope to make more, but we will depend on F-35 supplies. Belgium has no delays, but there are delays from the F-35. Once the F-35 arrives, the F-16 flies away. Everything is very simple," Bart said.
He assured that Brussels fully adheres to all the promises of the previously. The transferred planes will be provided immediately after they are replaced with new F-35 fighters, which are gradually being armed with the Belgian Air Force.
