Insomnia raises the risk of alcoholism among young people

Recently, scientists from Yale University have made an important discovery that links a lack of sleep with an increased risk of developing alcoholism among young people. They conducted a study that revealed an interesting relationship between the amount of sleep and alcohol consumption among young people.

The study involved 42 young people who had previously reported excessive alcohol consumption. During the week, the participants filled the questionnaires, fixing the amount of alcohol drinking every day. In addition, they were worn special devices for measuring sleep duration. The results have found that sleep lack and early rises can stimulate more alcohol consumption. Those participants who slept less and woke up earlier consumed more alcohol. On the other hand, participants who abused alcohol often later went to bed compared to those who consumed less or did not consume alcohol at all. This discovery supplements the results of previous studies, in particular, scientists at the University of California in Los Angeles. They found that lack of sleep slows brain activity, which contributes to cognitive disorders, such as temporary failures in memory and vision problems.

These studies indicate a serious relationship between sleep and alcohol -related habits, which can help develop preventive measures to reduce alcoholism among young people. It is also important to note that sleep disorders can contribute to the development of other health problems, so the right sleep is an important aspect of overall well -being.
