Within five months of 2025, the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (Bab) has declared significant progress in cases related to tax evasion. According to the head of the Detectives of Bab, Alexander Tkachuk, in the framework of criminal proceedings sent to court with a request for exemption from liability, the business voluntarily reimbursed the state 1.4 billion hryvnias.
“The boundary between optimization and tax evasion is often very thin. This is especially true for complex schemes and international operations. Our detectives carefully analyze each case - from accounting documents to the movement of funds in accounts, " - said Tkachuk during a roundtable" Control without pressure: how to build trust during the war? "
Since the beginning of the year, Bab has announced suspected tax offenses to 117 persons. Another 126 criminal proceedings were transferred to court.
During the roundtable, the issues of analytical activity of Babs, the peculiarities of cryptocurrency circulation in Ukraine, as well as the impact of law enforcement on the business reputation of enterprises were also discussed. Particular attention was paid to problematic moments in the interaction of business with state structures.
Business ombudsman Roman Vashchuk stressed that the most complaints are filed by the entrepreneurs on the actions of the controlling bodies, police and local authorities. According to him, Bab is not a major problem for business, but transparent communication with the state in wartime is extremely important.
V.O. Babb Director Sergei Perhun emphasized that the agency was set up for an open dialogue with a business community, in particular in the context of combating the shadow economy.
The event was organized on the basis of the State Tax University of Ukraine. Representatives of the Business Ombudsman Council, the American Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Employers, the Association of Advocates of Ukraine, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other institutions joined the discussion.
