US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga, during which the parties discussed the prospects for Ukraine's accession to NATO, the situation at the front and further support from the United States.
Blinken expressed his condolences against the victims of massive missile attacks of Russia on November 27-28, which were aimed at critical energy infrastructure of Ukraine. He stressed that the United States will continue to support Ukraine, in particular in increasing defense on the eve of winter.
The Secretary of State informed Sibiga about the US plans to support Ukraine in the international arena, in particular within the NATO and the Defense Contact Group. Blinken confirmed that the United States remains devoted to the support of Ukraine's sovereignty and democratic development, as well as a fair and prolonged peace in accordance with the UN Charter.
On the eve of this conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sibiga sent a letter to international partners, urging Ukraine to invite NATO during the meeting of the Alliance Ministers, which will take place on December 3-4, 2024.
In addition to NATO, the parties discussed the situation at the front, regular packages of financial and military assistance, as well as prospects for international pressure on Russia.
