According to Bloomberg, Telegram messenger has become a major platform for the spread of pro -Russian misinformation in the European Union. This is a concern among European governments and information security experts, as the impact of such campaigns on public opinion and political processes is increasing.
According to the publication, pro -Russian misinformation groups use very soft social network rules, and EU authorities can do little about it.
It is noted that although the EU authorities have strengthened their measures against the spread of illegal and harmful content, they have no effect on Telegram, as effective tools can only be used to platforms more than 45 million active users in Europe. And in Telegram, according to its owners, there are 41 million.
Journalists add that the main topics of misinformation are war against Ukraine, conflict in the Middle East, immigration, climate change and future elections to the European Parliament.
