On Friday, January 5, Bolivia announced a record cocaine seizure, with a local value of the illegal drug at $224 million. However, according to the data, the drugs were probably to be sent to Europe, the value of which here was almost twice as high. Bolivian President Luis Arce noted that the cocaine shipment, weighing approximately 8.8 metric tons, was the largest ever seized in the South American country.
He also reported that the drugs were hidden in wooden floor materials that were found in the truck. This contraband was probably destined for the Netherlands, where its value is estimated at around $526 million. According to officials, the operation also included the arrest of four people suspected of drug trafficking after conducting nine raids.
