Borrell "does not see the light at the end of the tunnel" in Ukraine's war with Russia

The head of the foreign policy service of the European Union (EU) Josep Borrel expressed a serious concern for the ongoing war in Ukraine, stressed that no signs of the end of the conflict were seen.

Despite the EU imposed sanctions against Russia , which have led to a significant weakening of its military machine, the war in eastern Ukraine continues, and its intensity even increases. "We do not see light at the end of the tunnel," Borrel emphasized.

During a speech at the EU-Central Investment Investment Forum, he noted that this war is a vivid reminder of the critical importance of the joint protection of the basic principles of the United Nations (UN), which is the best way to ensure peace and security in the world.

Borrel emphasized that the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of each country should be indisputable. He also warned of the danger of returning to the world where "power is entitled", and called for avoiding situations where powerful countries could unilaterally change the borders.

Despite the sanctions against Russia, Borrel acknowledged that the war in Ukraine continues and its intensity even increases.
