The United Kingdom made a decision on the expulsion of a Russian diplomat, canceling his accreditation in response to a similar step in Moscow last year. About it reports Reuters on Thursday, February 6.
In November 2024, Russia announced the expulsion of a British diplomat, accusing him of espionage. In response, the British Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador and announced its decision, stressed that it would not allow to intimidate its employees.
"Any further actions from Russia will be considered an escalation and receive an answer,"-said in a statement of the British Foreign Ministry.
The diplomat names are not disclosed, but the United Kingdom emphasizes that this step is a mirror response to the "unreasonable and unjustified" decision of Moscow.
Relations between Britain and Russia have remained tense since the Cold War, especially after the start of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. London supports Kiev, imposes sanctions against Moscow and provides military assistance to Ukraine.
