The UK Defense Minister John Gili said that in October the loss of Russian troops in Ukraine reached a record level. According to British intelligence, the average daily loss of Russians in October amounted to 1 354 people, which became the highest indicator since the beginning of a full -scale invasion. The total number of losses per month reached 41 980 people. For comparison, the previous record was 39 110 people in May 2024.
In total, according to British military intelligence, 696 thousand people have exceeded the losses of the Russian military since February 2024. To maintain such a level of participation in the war, Russia spends 40% of its state budget, which significantly loads the economy and can become a critical factor after 2025. Analysts doubt that the Russian Federation will be able to maintain such costs in the long run.
When Gili was asked if Ukraine and Western allies were able to defeat Russia in the war for exhaustion, he stressed that it was quite possible, and that the West could and should achieve it. The minister also noted that even in the event of Donald Trump's re -election to the post of US President, the United Kingdom does not plan to change its support for Ukraine, although the focus of American politics may shift somewhat.
