The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov spoke about large -scale military cooperation between Russia and North Korea. According to him, Moscow transmits Pyongyang advanced military technologies that can significantly change the balance of forces on the Korean Peninsula.
Budanov reported that Russia and the DPRK have agreed to create production facilities in the territory of North Korea for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles such as "Harpia" and "Geranium"-the Russian version of Iranian shock drones "Shahaned-136". This, according to the chief of GUR, can affect the martial law in the region, especially in the confrontation between North and South Korea.
In addition to drones, Russia helps North Korea to improve the accuracy of KN-23 ballistic missiles. Previously, rockets deviated from the target for several kilometers, now thanks to the joint work of specialists in both countries, they get accurately. Air-air-air rockets, as well as working on underwater technologies, such as ballistic missiles that can carry nuclear weapons, are also being modernized.
For its part, North Korea supplies a wide range of weapons to Russia: from the D-74 Caliber of 122 mm and infantry missile systems to self-propelled artillery installations 170 mm. Particularly effective in the fighting was the 170mm M1989 gun, which shoots long distances with high accuracy. According to GUR, Pyongyang handed over to Russia about 120 such Koksan guns.
In addition, in the Kursk region of Russia there are currently approximately 11 thousand military North Korean nationality. By agreements, some of them may start working as "migrants", but it is likely that these people will sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, turning into military personnel of the Russian army.
Budanov stressed that such military cooperation is dangerous for both the region and global security, because technologies and weapons being transmitted can significantly change the military balance and exacerbate conflicts.
Thus, military interaction between Russia and North Korea becomes one of the important factors that should be taken into account in modern geopolitics.
