BYD has developed a vessel capable of transporting 7,700 cars

BYD, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, reported the successful completion of the new PCTC cargo vessel called RO-RO Explorer 1, designed by Guangzhou Shipyard International, a state-owned company of China.

The construction of Ro-RO Explorer 1 was started at the beginning of this year, and now the company has announced that the ship has successfully passed all the necessary tests. The project has received a financing of about 5 billion yuan, and according to the BYD plan plans to commission 8 such vessels, each is able to transport up to 7700 cars. The size of the vessel is approximately 200 meters long, 38 meters wide and precipitate 9 meters.

This new project will allow to expand its global presence, especially in the context of increasing the volumes of electric vehicles. Over the last month, the company has sold 30,629 electric vehicles abroad, and the annual sales volume reached 206 679 units, which is four times higher than last year. New cargo vessels are expected to help solve logistics problems that European companies face when transporting Chinese electric vehicles.
