Scientists from Columbia University have conducted an important study that showed that late dinners could cause serious harm not only to the figure but also to the cardiovascular system. The results of the study were presented at the Conference of the American Cardiology Association in Philadelphia, and they became a real alarm for anyone who was used to dinner late.
During the year, scientists watched the nutrition and health of 112 women. It turned out that those of the participants who used most of their calories after 6 pm had significant problems with the heart and blood vessels. They had pronounced changes: high blood pressure, higher body mass index, high blood sugar, which indicates the risk of serious diseases. According to the researchers, the problem is that our body is not able to effectively digest food in the evening. Circular rhythms, cortisol and insulin levels are tuned in the daytime and not at night. Therefore, late food consumption loads metabolism that has already slowed down and leads to calories that cannot be spent due to low physical activity.
Nutritionists recommend that you do not miss meals, but not overeat. The diet should be balanced and regular. Ideally, nutrition should include at least three main meals a day, with two light snacks between them. This helps maintain normal energy throughout the day and reduces the risk of overeating at night. It is important to note that obesity, which can be a result of dietary disorders, is a risk factor for the development of several types of cancer, including cancer of liver, prostate, colon, kidneys, uterus and mammary glands. Particularly dangerous is the accumulation of fat in the abdominal cavity, which further increases the likelihood of serious diseases.
So late dinners are not only a problem for your figure, but also a serious challenge for the health of the heart and the whole body. It is worth remembering the importance of diet and avoiding late meals if you want to maintain your health.
