Four existential challenges for Ukraine converged at one point - Andrii Myselyuk

The end of this year for Ukraine became a point of bifurcation - there were need to answer several key calls at once.

The first  of these challenges was clearly and talentedly identified the Commander -in -Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny in his deep, really  breakthrough article  in Economist .

The challenge is that the offensive to win, if not all of them, at least very significant occupied Ukrainian territories, has not achieved its goals, unfortunately. And in the fields of fighting because of the parity of the possibilities of both sides, there is a stake when neither Ukraine nor Russia will be able to achieve rapid significant success. In other words, hostilities went into the format of a positional war.

During the week, which has passed from the release of the article of Zaluzhny, she was carefully read and analyzed many professional military specialists. Two points are important in the accentuated Zaluzhny Call. First, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces objectively recorded the obvious reality, which was formed at the end of this year in the fields of war with the Russian aggressor. This is definitely right. And much more productive than close your eyes to this reality and pretend that

a) Our army quickly and largely releases all occupied Ukrainian territories and

b) this promotion has every chance in the near future to release all these territories.

Secondly, a comprehensive professional analysis of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is in no way panic moods of "all-out" lesions. On the contrary, even the name of his article "Modern Position War and  how to win it"  speaks of the author's focus on finding effective and realistic means of victory in the complex sustain that has developed on the battlefield.

“To get out of the positional form at the present stage of war, it is first and foremost necessary to: gain preference in the air; Overcoming a deep-penetrated system of mine-explosive barriers; improving the efficiency of counter -breastfeeding and radio electronic struggle; Creation and preparation of the necessary reserves.

It should be borne in mind that the use of information technologies and the rational organization of logistics in military affairs plays a significant role in the exit from the positional form of war.

The need to avoid transition from positional form to maneuverable necessitates the search for new and non -trivial approaches to overcoming military parity with the enemy, ”  - writes General Zaluzhny.

The second challenge  is that the long -existing balance between the section of competencies of civil and military leadership in ensuring the effective resistance of Russian aggression by BCV is violated.

the BBC   states correctly “For a year and a half of the Great War, a unique model was formed in Ukraine, when one superpower person-President Vladimir Zelensky-was engaged in promoting the interests of his state at various international sites, providing her with the support The invaders and liberated Ukrainian lands. "

Now this really effective and productive model, unfortunately, is broken. And it was broken by the actions of the President of Zelensky and his environment. Thus, the official of the Presidential Office (Presidential Office) Igor Zhovkva allowed himself  to critically evaluate  in public speaking the fact of publication of the Article of the Armed Forces and its content.

At the same time, Zelensky himself was publicly commenting on Valery Zaluzhny's article for The Economist that the things at the front had been stuck in the front, Zelensky stated that, in his opinion, the situation was not a pathogen.

But it is much more important that a week ago, on November 3, President Zelensky, by his decree bypassing the Glavcom Armed Forces, and without the submission of Valery Zaluzhny, dismissed the Commander -in -Chief of Special Operations Viktor Khorenko, replacing him with officer Sergei Lupanchuk.

The fact that the situation in the relations between the leadership of the state and the Armed Forces continues to remain tense was the post of deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Volodymyr Aryev. Which three days ago wrote on Facebook that, according to him, the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov made a submission of the resignation of the Armed Forces Commissar Valery Zaluzhny. There was a panic on social networks. The hour has not passed, as Aryev was published by him - they say, the information about the resignation of Zaluzhny is not confirmed. This situation again drew the attention of society to the situation around the Glavcom of the Armed Forces.

The third challenge  is the need for Ukraine to switch to "military rails". 20 months after Russia began a full -scale war, our economy has not yet switched to "military rails". While the history of the previous two world wars convincingly proves that such a step is  a prerequisite for victory.

Finally,  the fourth challenge  is the lack of assistance to our country from the United States, a key ally in reflecting Russian aggression. Since September, a sharp confrontation between supporters and opponents of providing such assistance has continued in the US Congress. Her victim was even the Speaker of the House of Republican Kevin McCarthy - a palata of representatives of the US Congress for the first time in his history, he resigned the speaker.   After that, the new speaker of the US House of Republican Party Mike Johnson decided to postpone the help of helping our country "in a long box". And he supported the initiative to divide Israel's assistance from US and Taiwan assistance.

But Democrats in the US Senate, who consistently supported President Baiden's call for assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, in one package, on November 7, blocked the Republicans' attempts to quickly approve the bill to provide extraordinary assistance separately Israel without the funds for Ukraine.

The confrontation continues ...

In "dry residue" we have that the help packages of our country from the United States have significantly diminished in size.  “We will continue to pass the packages, they just become smaller. Therefore, we are very asking for a congress to approve a request with the additional appropriations that the President sent to meet the needs of Ukraine on the battlefield , ”said US Sabrina Singh, deputy of the US Secretary of Defense Sabrina Singh.

Thus, it is important to state the following: the situation around the continuation of successful resistance to Russian aggression and the return of the occupied territories as of mid -November is really serious. But fortunately, she is neither a sharp critical nor hopeless.

These four challenges are challenges, not hopeless situations to give them effective answers. And as the recent Ukrainian history of the successful reflection of Russian aggression and victories over such a dangerous enemy as Russia, our society, together with the Armed Forces, can quickly consolidate, act boldly and wisely and win.
