At the moment when the self -proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko again declares the threat of war with Ukraine, emphasizing the massive fortifications on the Ukrainian border, there is a fear that Russia can use Belarus as a base for a possible invasion.
Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Service, in his speech on the TV Apostrophe, stressed that the situation on the border with Belarus remains under control, as Russia brought its troops from this area to redistribute them to other areas of hostilities.
"The situation on the border with Belarus is under control, and we have not fixed any threats from this direction.
He also indicated that a certain number of auxiliary staff remains in place to repair equipment and solve logistics tasks, but this is not a serious threat.
"We closely monitor the situation in Belarus, including the activities of the intelligence agencies of the State Border Guard Service. We understand that Belarus can be used by Russia as a base for a possible invasion of the territory of Ukraine," - said the SPSU spokesman.
In this regard, Demchenko noted the need to strengthen the preparation and strengthening of the border: "... Therefore, we are actively preparing, increasing the border and improving the fortification structures to effectively resist any possible ataki."
