Congress requires the US government to release information about UFOs

The United States Congress has passed a law that obliges the US government to disclose certain UFOs.

According to the new provisions of the Law on National Defense for the Financial Year 2024, the US National Archives should collect all documents that "relate to unrecognized abnormal phenomena, technologies of unknown origin and inhuman intelligence".

The term "unrecognized anomalous phenomena" or UAP is a new concept that includes unknown objects in the sky, underwater and space.

The records should be made public 25 years after their creation, if the President does not manage to leave them secret. However, new records can be disclosed earlier if the agency that created them.

The previous version of the amendment included more rigorous conditions that required the Pentagon to declassify records concerning "publicly known observations" without prior verification, but these rules were removed from the text of the bill.
