Oleg Tsarev, a former MP from the outlawed Party of Regions, was convicted in criminal proceedings where he was accused of financing Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison with the confiscation of all property, the value of which is almost 500 million hryvnias.
As part of the verdict in Tsarev's case, a significant part of his real estate was confiscated. Among the confiscated objects are two property complexes located on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula, namely the Kirov Sanatorium and the Museum of the Estate of Princess Baryatynska. The total value of these objects is more than 456 million hryvnias. In addition, Tsarev lost an apartment in the center of Dnipro worth 3.2 million hryvnias and a plot of land in the Kyiv region valued at 1.3 million hryvnias. All these assets together amount to 460.6 million hryvnias.
Investigators established that after the annexation of Crimea by Russia, Tsarev registered his real estate and a number of enterprises under Russian law. In addition, he hired soldiers of the Russian Guard to guard these objects, in particular, the manor museum and the sanatorium in Yalta. State funding for protection was transferred through the federal state unitary enterprise "Protection of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation".
Oleg Tsarev is currently in Russia, where he continues his illegal activities. The sentence of eight years' imprisonment and confiscation of property will be carried out only after his arrest.
We will remind that back in February of this year, the court seized Tsarev's real estate, the total value of which is close to 500 million hryvnias. This decision became part of Ukraine's large-scale struggle against former political figures who collaborated with the aggressor.
