On April 24, 2025, representatives of the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine visited the Svyatoshinsky district of Kiev, which was injured as a result of a nightly Russian rocket attack. The visit was against the backdrop of the destruction caused by Russia's aggression, which has been ongoing for over a year, and demonstrates the support of Denmark in war.
From the Embassy of Denmark, the Deputy Head of the Mission of the Jens Alsbirk and a special attacker on civil protection, Johan Til Niepsen, as well as the Deputy Attaché on Defense, came to Kiev. They came to the scene of the tragedy to evaluate the extent of destruction and discuss with Ukrainian partners further steps to restore the affected areas.
According to the press service of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations (SES), at least 12 people were killed as a result of rocket firing, including a teenager, which rescuers were pulled out of the rubble. The head of the SES Andriy Danyk personally demonstrated the degree of destruction to diplomats and told about the work of rescue services.
"We need to ensure the safety and assistance of all the victims of the war. During this blow we have lost many lives, but rescuers continue to work at the site of the tragedy. Now we are actively providing medical assistance and disassembled," said Andrei Danyk, describing the situation.
Russian shelling has caused significant destruction in Svyatoshinsky district, including damage to residential buildings and infrastructure. Despite the severity of the situation, rescue work continues, and dozens of SES units and health workers work at the scene.
Denmark representatives promised to support Ukraine in these difficult conditions, emphasizing their willingness to help both at the humanitarian level and through technical support, in particular in the areas of civil protection and restoration of destroyed territories. Denmark continues to assist Ukraine in the fight against Russia's aggression, in particular by providing humanitarian aid and the necessary resources for restoration.
The visit of the Embassy of Denmark also symbolizes the deep support of the international community in the struggle of Ukraine for its independence. In addition to humanitarian support, Denmark actively supports sanctions against Russia and helps to provide military assistance to Ukraine to help it protect its territorial integrity.
Ukraine faces the horrific consequences of aggression every day, and international assistance, in particular from countries such as Denmark, plays an important role in the restoration and support of the affected territories. At the same time, these visits are a reminder of the importance of international solidarity and cooperation in a global security crisis.
It should be noted that April 24 is also the day when Ukrainian and international organizations commemorate the memory of the dead during the war. As of today, according to the SES, the number of victims in the Svyatoshinsky district has increased to 12 people, and in some cases rescuers continue to work at the site of the tragedy to save more people and gather information about the extent of destruction.
The reaction of international diplomats to the situation in Ukraine by Denmark is another testimony to Ukraine's deep support in its fight against the Russian aggressor. Denmark, like many other European countries, stands on the side of Ukraine in the struggle for peace, justice and restoration of territorial integrity.
