Ukraine's funding deficit reaches $ 10 billion

Ukraine faces funding deficits for reconstruction in 2025, which is almost $ 10 billion. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal in his Telegram channel on April 2.

According to the Prime Minister, the government has already allocated almost $ 7.4 billion for a priority to restore the country with the support of international partners. However, the overall need is much higher than available resources.

"This year, we see the key areas of joint work of the Ukrainian platform of donors: budget support, sustained funding for the restoration of infrastructure, housing, energy, economic development and attraction of investments on the way to the EU,"-said Shmigal following the 13th meeting of the Platform Management Committee.

He also recalled that in 2024 Ukraine's need for international support is $ 39.3 billion, and the country has confirmation from international partners that this amount will be covered.

"We need to work on support for 2026. Thankful to the G7 countries and the European Commission for supporting the ERA initiative and directing Ukraine at the expense of profits from immobilized Russian assets," the Prime Minister said.

Despite the considerable assistance from donors, a shortage of $ 10 billion remains a serious challenge to rebuild Ukraine, which forces the government to intensify the search for new sources of funding and investment.
