The mobilization age in Ukraine should be from 20 to 50 years to ensure the efficiency of combat missions. Roman Kostenko, an People's Deputy of the Voice Party, announced this in an interview with Ukrainian Truth.
According to Kostenko, in Ukraine there is a problem with the age category of persons calling on the army. According to his proposals, the optimal age range for mobilization should be from 20 to 50 years.
"I am a deputy or a military, I have national interests. We really have a problem that the category of people now called to the army is quite age. I am in the army from the age of 17 and I will say: we do not say about 18, but I think that we should have a conscript age from 20 years to 50," he said.
Kostenko stressed that everyone who is older can mobilize at their own request, but not in combat units. "If we want to provide combat units normally so that people go healthy and can perform combat missions, it should be the age range of 20-50 years," he added.
The politician also noted that the passed law on mobilization has allowed to increase the number of personnel in the Armed Forces, but has some drawbacks. One of them is the predominance of the quantity over quality, which leads to situations where mobilized persons "sit in training centers, receive wages, and they cannot be released." This gives the impression that the army is increasing, but the quality of personnel remains insufficient.
"Whatever we say, but we now have a million army in a large country and this is not enough, because we are fighting one million personnel against such a large country as the Russian Federation. The army should be greater," - summed up Roman Kostenko.
