According to recent reports, Russia and North Korea have concluded a military treaty that contains a condition for restricting agreements with third parties that contradict the interests of both states.
This new disclosure reflects the depth of strategic partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang, as well as possible consequences for geopolitical stability in the region.
Article 5 of the document signed yesterday shows:
“Each party undertakes not to enter into agreements against sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, the right to free choice and development of political, social, economic and cultural systems and other key interests of the other party, and not to participate in such actions.
The parties do not allow the use of their territory by third states to violate the sovereignty, security, territorial integrity of the other party. ”
Recall that the DPRK is formally in a state of war with South Korea (in fact, hostilities are not conducted). That in theory can now affect Russia's relations with this country.
Article 16 of the Treaty also refuses to comply with the sanctions on the DPRK.
