The study showed: The quality of men's sperm deteriorates due to exposure to fertilizers and insecticides

Scientists have published the results of their research, which indicate the relationship between the use of fertilizers and the quality of male semen. According to the post in Environmental Health Perspectivers, the quality of sperm in men has deteriorated in the last 50 years, and this is not only due to changes in lifestyle, but also because of the environmental impact.

Researchers analyzed the data of 1 774 men of four continents and found that there was a relationship between the use of insecticides and semen quality. Men who were more exposed to organophosphates and N-methylcarbamates had a much lower sperm concentration in semen milliliter than others.

Scientists have found that poisonous substances that enter the body along with contaminated products and water can have a toxic effect. They inhibit the enzymes responsible for the breakdown of neurotransmitters. The mechanism of this impact is not yet fully understood, so scientists plan to conduct additional research to disclose details and develop strategies to reduce the impact of health insecticides.

This work may be important for understanding the impact of the environment on human health and developing measures to improve it.
