Since the commencement of a full -scale invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022, the border guards of Ukraine have recorded 40.5 thousand administrative violations related to the illegal crossing of the state border or attempts to implement it. This was reported in the State Border Service of Ukraine (SPSU).
It is noted that from February 24, 2022 to December 23, 2024, 40.5 thousand administrative protocols were drawn up under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. This article provides for liability for “illegal crossing or attempting to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine”. Violators are threatened with a fine of 3400 to 8500 UAH.
During the same period, the courts were presented:
- 34 sentences under Article 332-2 of the Criminal Code ("Illegal crossing of the state border");
- 96 sentences under Article 335 of the Criminal Code ("evasion of conscription for conscript military service");
- 1490 sentences under Article 336 of the Criminal Code ("evasion of conscription during mobilization").
The last article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
Most cases of illegal border crossing were recorded at the borders with Romania and Moldova, less with Hungary and Slovakia, and the least on the border with Poland.
