Dubai (RTA) is planning to launch a air taxi service in the first quarter of 2026. This was reported by the Director of the Department of Transport Technology RTA Khaled Ala Avadi.
The project is implemented in collaboration with Joby Aviation , which is responsible for testing and certification of aircraft, as well as from Skyports , which deals with special stations - "Vertificts". In total, Dubai plan to build four vertical airports, two of which have to work until 2026.
Air taxis will be integrated into the city's innovative transport system, providing a quick and ecological way of transportation. A special monitoring service will be created to ensure traffic safety.
The air taxi project will be part of Dubai's ambitious plan for the development of a "smart city", including automation of transport, reducing CO₂ emissions and improving the mobility of residents and tourists.
