In Kyrgyzstan, electronic bracelets were tested to combat family violence.
The Ministry of Justice of Kyrgyzstan defines these devices as "very effective in combating domestic violence, as they may limit the radius of approaching the relevant persons to certain entities/persons/territories." Currently, the methodology of using these bracelets is being analyzed and evaluated.
Earlier, the Kyrgyzstan government has announced a law on the Parliament on the implementation of electronic bracelets. The Ministry of Justice notes that when adopting amendments, these devices can be implemented in the criminal enforcement process since 2024.
Last week, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akilbek Zhaparov noted that prevention of domestic violence was a priority for the state.
According to the WPS (Peace and Security Index for Women), Kyrgyzstan has been recognized as the most dangerous country for women in Central Asia for the second consecutive year, and 13% of Kyrgyzstan are faced with violence by loved ones.
