Energoatom and ORANO strengthen Ukraine's energy security by 2040

The Ukrainian National Nuclear Power Plant Operator and the French company ORANO have signed an agreement on the provision of nuclear fuel enrichment services for Ukrainian NPPs. The contract is calculated by 2040 and will provide reliable and diversified supply of nuclear fuel.

Uranium enrichment is one of the key stages of nuclear fuel production required for the stable operation of nuclear power plants. V.O. The Chairman of the Board of Energoatom, Petro Kotin, stressed that this agreement allows Ukraine to confidently plan an energy future. He also emphasized that Ukraine's need for Uranus enrichment services will only grow due to plans to increase atomic capacity. Orano Chief Executive Director Nicolas MAES noted that cooperation with Ukraine is part of the company's efforts to support Europe's energy security. The ORANO Agreement is an next step towards reducing Ukraine's dependence on Russian nuclear fuel. Earlier, Energoatom has already expanded cooperation with Westinghouse in the production of fuel collections for Ukrainian NPPs.

Thus, Ukraine continues to diversify the sources of nuclear fuel supply and strengthen its energy security.
