Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo announced the convening of a meeting of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic on January 23. The main topic of the discussion will be the information provided by the Slovakia information service (CIS) on possible plans for opposition and non -governmental organizations to overthrow the government.

Robert Fitzo stated that the data obtained indicate the probable preparation of the opposition forces of scenarios that threaten the stability of the government. He stressed that the current government was formed by the results of the democratic parliamentary elections, and attempts to change power is a violation of the law.

According to the Prime Minister, there is a group of "experts" on the territory of Slovakia, who previously participated in events on the Ukrainian Maidan and Georgia. He noted that the activity of this group is allegedly funded by the United States.

Fitzo claims that one of the scripts involves the capture of strategic objects such as the Parliament and the Presidential Palace. In response, he urged the force structures to act within the law and to protect state institutions.

"In a normal democratic state, security forces intervene because it is a violation of the law and in some cases criminal law," the Prime Minister said.

The Security Council is expected to take preventive measures to prevent possible escalation. Among the proposed measures is increased supervision of government buildings.

The deputy chairman of the Parliament Tibar Hashpar emphasized the severity of the information received and urged to carefully study all the materials presented by CIS.

The situation around possible opposition plans can lead to increased political tension in the country. This incident also attracts the attention of the international community as Slovakia is a member of the EU and NATO, and any threats to political stability in the region can have a wider geopolitical impact.
