French Minister of Culture Rashid Date raised the issue of the introduction of a paid entrance to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris. She proposed to set a ticket at 5 euros, which, in her opinion, could bring about 75 million euros every year to help finance further restoration and supporting work in Notre Dami.
"All churches in France would be saved for entrance to Notre Dam. We would receive 75 million euros a year for 5 euros for a visitor," said France Minister of Culture Rashid Date.
According to Euronews, Rashida also wants to change the prices of visiting national monuments and museums since 2026, saying that "visitors from outside the EU" will be able to pay "more" than French visitors to "finance the renewal of our national heritage."
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris should be opened again on December 7 after almost five years of reconstruction after the fire that swept it in 2019.
