France conducted the first test of a modernized Asmpa-R missile, which can carry a nuclear warhead from the Rafale fighter over its territory. This was stated by the Minister of National Defense of France, Sebastien Lecorn.
The ASMPA-R rocket was launched from the Rafale B aircraft strategic military-air forces under the nuclear facility. Lecorny noted all the forces, teams of the Ministry of Defense and industrial partners who participated in this operation.
Asmpa-R is part of the Durandal operation, which is aimed at developing a strategic air strike over France. This missile is developed by the MBDA concern and meets the strategic goals of maintaining the operational reliability of the French armed forces in the long run.
France plans to spend about 13% of the military budget to modernize the nuclear potential and create a new 4th Air Earth-Earth nuclear missile by ASN4G by 2035.
French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed his readiness to discuss the use of French nuclear weapons as part of "reliable European defense" from potential threats from Russia.
