France plans to hold a second meeting to discuss the situation in Ukraine and European security issues on Wednesday, involving a broader range of countries. According to Reuters, this time European states that were not present at the previous summit, as well as Canada as an important NATO ally, were invited to negotiate.
Among the invited countries - Norway, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden and Belgium. The meeting will take place in a hybrid format, which involves both personal presence and video communication, diplomatic sources say.
The preliminary meeting was held with the participation of leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland and the Netherlands, as well as representatives of the European Commission, the European Council and NATO. However, some countries have expressed dissatisfaction because of a limited summit format, believing that discussing such important issues should occur at the level of the entire EU.
France seeks to take into account these remarks, creating a more inclusive discussion format to provide a wider consensus on the security and support of Ukraine against the background of Russia's continuing aggression. This step demonstrates Paris's desire to strengthen European unity and consolidate international support to stabilize the situation in the region.
