US Presidential Administration Donald Trump has withdrawn Harvard and Exchange Program (SEVP), which actually deprives him of the right to accept new foreign students. This was reported on May 22 by Associated Press.
This decision also obliges more than 6,800 foreign students who are already studying at the university, or transferred to other institutions, or leave the United States to avoid loss of legal status.
The Ministry of Internal Security, headed by Christie Noem, explained this step "Harvard's inability to provide a safe environment for Jewish students", mentioning the incidents related to anti -Semitic violence. In addition, Harvard is thrown out "ideological bias" and possible connections with the Communist Party of China.
The university has 72 hours to provide materials, including videos from protests involving foreign students.
Harvard sharply criticized the decisions, calling him "a dangerous political precedent that violates the principles of academic autonomy and international cooperation." The administration of the institution believes that the government's actions are aimed at intimidation and are part of a broader advance for higher education independence in the United States.
