Google tests new AI mode in search

Google is actively working on updating its search service by introducing a new artificial intelligence technology known as "AI mode". This mode, which is currently under the testing stage, should revolutionize the usual way to search on the Internet, providing users with answers to questions in dialogue format, instead of traditional link lists.

AI mode is part of a Google experiment that uses a new artificial intelligence model - Gemini 2.0. Instead of just publishing a search list, the system provides users with conversational answers to requests. The answers are formed using artificial intelligence technologies, which allows not only to answer a specific question, but also to develop the topic of request in dialogue.

This allows you to search not only through text, but also voice requests and even images. However, the most important feature is that, despite the interactive approach, the system still provides the user with references to sources and other relevant information, which helps to confirm the accuracy of the answer.

AI mode will be available on a separate tab in the search engine interface, along with other categories, such as "Image" and "News". In current testing, these features are only available for US users, but Google is working on extension for users in other countries. Since the system is still in the test stage, it is expected that it will be gradually improved, adding new functionality.

The main purpose of this update is to facilitate the process of finding and providing comprehensive answers to complex questions without need to go to additional pages. This approach will allow users to get answers using one search that saves a lot of time.

Google also seeks to remain competitive in the search engine market, where, in addition to traditional solutions, new competitors are emerging that actively use artificial intelligence technologies. In particular, Google seeks to compete with other tools such as Perplexity and Chatgpt, which are also focused on using AI to provide answers.
