Greece is concerned about the possible sale of Turkey Missiles Meteor

Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Michotakis, during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, raised the issue of possible selling Turkey Metheor missiles produced by the consortium of European countries. Kathimerini reports .

According to sources, Machon asked Macron to clarify the situation on the possible supply of weapons of Turkey. The French leader confirmed that the corresponding contacts are indeed ongoing and occur on the initiative of London, who is a partner of the manufacturers' consortium.

This question remains sensitive to Athens, as Turkey seeks to buy Eurofighter fighter jets and MetEor missiles, which would greatly strengthen its military capabilities. According to the French newspaper La Tribune , Turkish President Recep TaiP Erdogan considers the possibility of purchasing these missiles to provide strategic parity with Greece.

The Greek government is concerned that the manufacturer will supply advanced missile systems of both Greece and Turkey, given the ancient differences between countries. Greek Defense Minister Nicos Dandias has already addressed the French ambassador to Athens with a request for official explanations on this issue.

Despite the signing of the Athenian Declaration on the normalization of relations between Greece and Turkey at the end of 2023, the issue of demarcation of maritime borders and military balance remains open.

Michotakis is expected to meet Macron on Monday in Paris during a conference on artificial intelligence. This meeting should not only clarify the situation with the sale of missiles, but also demonstrate that the Greek-French relations remain stable.
