Georgia stops work in PACE

Georgia delegation ceases to work at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), but the country remains a member of the Council of Europe. This was stated by the Head of Georgia, a member of the ruling party "Georgian Dream" by Tea Tsulukiani, reports Civil.ge on January 29.

According to Tsulukiani, despite the fact that the powers of the Georgian representatives were approved, the delegation stops its activity in the PACE through "unfair and unjustified" requirements, in particular regarding the appointment of new parliamentary elections in Georgia.

"The members of our delegation will restore their participation in the Parliamentary Assembly only after the unfair attitude towards the Georgian state and the people will change, blackmail will cease, and every official or unofficial representative of governments, as well as the forces behind them, are aware that such pressure will not force the Georgian.

The head of the delegation stressed that the decision concerns only work in the PACE, not the release of Georgia from the Council of Europe. Thus, the country continues to remain a member of the organization, but will not participate in the work of the Assembly to change its attitude to it.
