Huawei has patented a new battery technology

The Chinese technological company Huawei has announced a patent for new solid-state lithium-ion battery technology, which can significantly improve the efficiency and speed of battery charging, as well as their reliability in difficult conditions. According to the Huawei Central portal, the technology will provide stable operation even at low temperatures, which is especially relevant for the automotive industry and other areas with high reliability requirements.

The solid -state battery is characterized by the fact that instead of a liquid or gel electrolyte uses solid material that separates the anode and cathode. This not only reduces the risks of electrolyte destruction, but also increases safety, since solid electrolyte is more stable and less prone to overheating.

According to the Huawei patent application, the development includes a new approach to the design of lithium-ion batteries: the use of alloyed sulfide materials with high ionic conductivity. Nitrogen is used to increase the stability of one of the cells. This battery structure minimizes the deposition of polysulfides (LISX), which usually lead to rapid wear and reduction of conventional batteries with liquid electrolytes.

It is unknown when Huawei will be able to embody new technology in commercial products. However, getting a patent is an important first step in this direction. According to the Huawei Central portal, it is likely that the first solid -state batteries with this technology can appear on the market as early as 2025, which will significantly increase the productivity and safety of devices that will use these new batteries.
