In Ukraine, demand for used cars from abroad is increasing. According to Ukravtopromy, in May 2025, Ukrainian electric vehicles were supplemented with more than 22,000 imported car with mileage, which is 14% more than in May last year. Such an increase indicates an active recovery of the car market in the segment of used cars.
The largest share among the imported cars is occupied by gasoline cars - 48%. Electric vehicles occupy the second place with a fraction of 22%, then diesel - 21%, hybrids - 6%, and cars with gas cylinder equipment (HBO) make up 3%.
Among the models most often choose Ukrainians are the leader Volkswagen Golf with 1131 units. Skoda Octavia (748), Volkswagen Tiguan (640), Audi Q5 (583), Nissan Rogue (562), Tesla Model Y (544), Nissan Le (515), Volks, Volks, Volks (544) are also included in the top ten. 3 (467).
The average age of imported cars in May is 9.3 years. In total, from the beginning of 2025, 93.4 thousand cars with mileage were imported to Ukraine, which is 1% less than in the same period last year.
Analysts note that the demand for used cars from abroad is due to several factors: reducing purchasing power, limited choice of new cars in the market and increasing the popularity of electric vehicles among Ukrainians.
Such a trend also reflects the desire of Ukrainians for more environmentally friendly and economic vehicles, which partly explains the high percentage of electric vehicles among imported machines.
At the same time, the increase in car imports creates challenges for the Ukrainian infrastructure and the secondary market, in particular in the issues of maintenance and adaptation of such vehicles to local conditions.
