India has temporarily closed its airspace for all Pakistani aircraft against the background of increased tension with Islamabad. The corresponding restriction came into force on April 30 and will act until May 23, 2025, which is stated in the official message for pilots (notam), published by the authorities of India.
The prohibition applies to both civilian and military aircraft registered in Pakistan. The reason for this decision was the recent events in the disputed region of Kashmir, in particular the attack of militants on a group of tourists, which caused the aggravation of relations between the two nuclear powers.
In response, Pakistan announced the establishment of a temporary tune over the cities of Islamabad and Lahore until May 2. This decision is also considered a preventive measure in response to probable Indian military activity.
The situation in the region remains tense, and experts warn of the threat of escalation of the conflict.
