Intel will reduce over 20,000 employees within the framework of management reform

Intel is preparing for large -scale reorganization, which plans to reduce more than 20% of staff. About it reports Bloomberg with reference to sources in the company. The official dismissal announcement is expected to be made in the coming days.

This will be the first major step of the new Director General of Lip-Bu Tana, who headed Intel in March 2025. Its main goal is to simplify the management structure, return the engineering culture as the basis of corporate activities and enhance the company's competitiveness in the global market.

In 2024, Intel already reduced about 15,000 employees, and at the end of the year there were 108,900 employees. The new round of exemption will be much larger - it will be predominantly management, administrative and non -core units.

It is known that LIP-BU TAN also plans the sale of non-core assets, in particular, it has already been reported with the Silver Lake Investment Fund, which purchased 51% of the ALTERA unit-the structural part of the Intel specializing in programmable logical integrated schemes (FPGA).

The new leader emphasized the need to update the staff, especially among engineers, and the adaptation of production processes to the needs of the modern market. "We have to regain competitiveness. It will take time, and it will not be easy," said Lip-Bo Tan.

On April 24, Intel will present financial results for the first quarter of 2025, which can confirm the reasons for urgent reforms in the company.
