Iran doubled the reserves of highly enriched uranium

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced the rapid increase in high -protected uranium reserves in Iran. According to confidential reports, the level of enrichment reached 60%, which is much higher than the need for peaceful use of nuclear energy. The IAEA experts warn that such volumes can be enough to create six nuclear warheads.

According to Reuters, after the victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential election, Iran significantly accelerated uranium enrichment. Previously, Tehran produced 6-9 kilograms of uranium per month, now this figure has increased to 35-45 kg.

"Tehran has already reached a level when it produces enough uranium to create one nuclear bomb on a monthly basis," the report reads.

At present, uranium reserves, enriched to 60%, have increased to 274.8 kg, which is almost twice as much as in the previous quarter.

IAEA experts emphasize that Iran is the only country without the official status of a nuclear state that produces similar material. This causes serious fears about the possible expansion of its nuclear program.

In addition, there is an unresolved situation with unclared uranium reserves:

  • The agency has repeatedly discovered the traces of uranium on objects that Iran did not declare.
  • The official Tehran never provided comprehensive explanations about their origin.
  • The report states that the investigation has gone into a dead end.

Iran's official position remains unchanged - Tehran assures that his nuclear program is only peaceful. However, an increase in uranium enrichment is questioned by up to 60%, because nuclear energy is usually used by uranium, enriched up to 3-5%.

Experts also warn that with further enrichment up to 90%, this material can be used for military purposes.
