Iran sent two satellites to Russia

Iran handed over two locally produced satellites to Russia to be launched into orbit by a Russian spacecraft. This was reported by the Reuters agency. Kowsar and Hodhod satellites , each of which performs different tasks in the field of observation and communication.

Destination of satellites

  • Kowsar is a high-resolution imaging satellite that can be used in agriculture, natural resource management, environmental monitoring, and disaster relief. Its resolution is 3.5 meters per pixel, which allows obtaining sufficiently detailed images for precise scientific and economic purposes. The service life of this satellite in orbit is two years.
  • Hodhod is a small communications satellite designed to provide communications in remote areas where access to terrestrial networks is limited. This satellite aims to improve the quality of communication in regions with poorly developed infrastructure.

Cooperation between Iran and Russia

This launch is another example of close cooperation between Iran and Russia in the space industry. By the end of 2023, with the help of Russia, Iran had already put into orbit two satellites of its own development, which demonstrated the growing technological potential of the Iranian space program.
