The Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky has officially denied information about the transfer of Russian weapons captured by the Israeli military in Lebanon. In his interview for Radio Liberty on January 27, he called it a misunderstanding that arose through a "spoiled phone".
Earlier, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel Sharren Haskel and expressed his gratitude for the probable initiative of weapons. However, Brodsky explained that this idea came from the past and was not realized.
"Sharren Haskel, when she was a deputy of Parliament, made a private legislative initiative, under which Israel could hand over seized weapons of Russian production to Ukraine. But this initiative did not receive support in Kneset," the ambassador said.
Currently, according to Brodsky, Haskel is the Deputy Foreign Minister and is no longer entitled to submit private legislative initiatives.
The ambassador stressed that decisions on the transfer of weapons in Israel are made exclusively by the army and the Ministry of Defense. "The Israeli Ministry of Defense did not make any such decision," he added, emphasizing that talking about the transfer of trophy weapons is not true.
