The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution to protect foreign volunteers who help the Armed Forces

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution that allows foreigners and stateless persons who provide assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war against Russia to receive temporary residence permits. This step became an important part of the state policy regarding the protection of volunteers and other foreigners who actively contribute to the defense of the country.

According to the new resolution, foreigners who assist the Defense Forces of Ukraine for at least six months will be able to apply for a temporary residence permit through a simplified procedure. The relevant decision was adopted by the government after being developed by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which considers this step important for the protection of those who risk their lives by helping the Ukrainian military. The new resolution defines a clear procedure for foreigners who want to obtain a residence permit in Ukraine.

In particular, the government approved the following main points: A special procedure for collecting data on foreigners participating in military operations or providing assistance to the Defense Forces of Ukraine has been established. In order to obtain a temporary residence permit, a foreigner must provide confirmation from the commander of a military unit that he really provided assistance in a combat zone. This confirmation can relate to various types of assistance: from medical services to the provision of military advice or other technical support. The resolution also defines the terms by which the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs must consider the applications of foreigners to obtain a residence permit. To obtain a temporary residence permit, foreigners must submit a certain package of documents to the State Migration Service of Ukraine, which contains information about the person and confirmation of his participation in the assistance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk, emphasized the importance of this decision for the protection of foreigners who are on the front lines, providing various assistance to the Ukrainian military. "This resolution makes it possible to strengthen the legal protection of foreign volunteers who perform combat or service tasks in the areas of hostilities for six months or more," Melnyk said. According to the new mechanism, foreigners actively helping the Ukrainian military on the front lines will receive a more protected legal status in Ukraine.

This will help preserve their safety and provide an opportunity to continue their activities in Ukraine. The implementation of such an initiative demonstrates how Ukraine actively cooperates with the international community in the fight against Russian aggression. Foreigners who voluntarily support the Ukrainian military are not only engaged in volunteering, but also actively participate in the country's defense, which requires proper recognition and protection from the Ukrainian state. This step also emphasizes Ukraine's commitment to the principles of human dignity and international support, which is important for attracting new volunteers and experts from abroad.

The introduction of a simplified mechanism for granting temporary residence permits to foreigners who help the Armed Forces of Ukraine is an important step in protecting the rights of volunteers and strengthening international support for Ukraine. This resolution not only increases the legal status of foreigners, but also notes the important role of international aid in the fight against Russian aggression.
