As part of sanctions imposed due to violations of Ukraine's sovereignty, Canada has frozen assets of Russian origin worth more than 457 million Canadian dollars (over 350 million US dollars). This was announced by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which monitors compliance with sanctions.
"As of February 24, 2022, Canadian assets of 140.1 million Canadian dollars were frozen and financial transactions of 317.4 million dollars were suspended as part of the restrictions provided for by the Special Economic Measures Act against Russia," the police said.
In addition, Canadian law enforcement officers blocked financial transactions worth 387.2 thousand Canadian dollars and froze assets worth 148.5 thousand dollars related to sanctioned persons from Belarus.
