In turn, Xochitl Gálvez from the right-wing alliance of parties "Strength and Heart for Mexico" won about 29% of the vote, and the third candidate, Jorge Alvarez Maynes, received about 10% of the vote.
In the early 2000s, Scheinbaum was Mexico City's environmental secretary. In 2018, she was elected mayor of Mexico City.
On the eve of the 2024 presidential election, on June 12, 2023, it was announced that Scheinbaum would resign as mayor of Mexico City on June 16.
Already on September 6, 2023, she was officially chosen as a party candidate for the 2024 elections.
